Looks do matter!  When you visit an online course, you can instantly determine if it is one you want to continue in or one that is going to be boring and text-heavy.  And, this applies to classroom websites, as well!  “If you build it, they will come!” – but the reality is that you need to build it first!  In this case, students will judge a book by it’s cover!
