Teachers. Technology. Together.
iThemes, creator of tools to help users create awesome websites, has an amazing opportunity for Educators. The good people at ithemes offers an iThemes Education Program designed to assist Educators, Schools and Students to quality web design tools and training.
Educators who apply are approved receive the WordPress Web Designer’s Toolkit for Free.
Their goal is to support educators in their efforts to support students in their learning.
I read up on what they offer and wondered if it really could be true. It seemed impossible because the Toolkit normally runs $977 (though it’s marked $825 today). If it was, it meant that educators would receive access to WebDesign.com with a 24/7 on-demand training library, iThemes Builder with 150+ themes that are cutting edge style and design for WordPress, BackupBuddy which allows users to backup their website easily and securely, and plenty of support for the process.
These folks even have a tech foundation in their local community called The Div, Inc. So, I filled out the application and hoped it was all it promised to me.
Soon, I was talking to Lindsey from iThemes and sharing more about how I hoped to use iThemes to continue my work on this educational blog as well as share with those that I present to at my district and in my presentations. Lindsey really gets education and understands the potential for educators with the right tools. By the end of the day, I had access to the entire suite of iThemes tools. Within two days, I had set up my new look and design on MyWeb4Ed.com, added wearisome high quality plugins, and found myself able to focus more on content than the set up of the program. Lindsey shared information about MyWeb4Ed on her blog at http://edu.ithemes.com/educator-spotlight-carol-mortensen-of-myweb4ed-com/. Everything she shared here is true. It was a remarkable turnaround! I’m excited to be able to use this new format to share educational information with others.
I’m now spending time on the site learning about everything I can learn with WebDesign. They have good stuff. Everything from Webinars live to taped presentations and text instructions. They have a forum that has active and involved support answering posts placed there. It’s because of the forum that I was able to create my newly designed website so quickly.
They have an upcoming webinar that explains everything on July 30th.
